Dear Friends:

You will make important decisions and vote on many vital issues Tuesday, November 2, 2010.  Last month I made the important decision to enter the 2010 race for Mayor of Columbus, Georgia. 

I'm offering myself for service in this important capacity for several reasons, including my vision about the bright future for Columbus, my energy and my ability to get things done.  I have worked for the past ten years with three mayors, two city managers, City Council, numerous departments, public safety officers and residents to improve our quality of life in Columbus, Georgia.  I have contributed countless hours on municipal committees and issues, such as:

Fiscal Responsibility - helping to negotiate the improved use of taxpayer monies by creating roads and infrastructure improvements that facilitate transportation and economic development while building, not destroying, neighborhood communities;

Community Advocacy - working with residents to create neighborhood associations and Crime Watch groups and in coordination with the Columbus Police Department; promoting local businesses through facilitating the MidTown Business Association and through "buy local" campaigns;

Building Consensus - developing workable solutions to previous political impasse by conceiving of and building consensus for the land swap deal that traded the city's old Firestone property at the corner of Boxwood Road and Macon Road for 6 acres on which the City Services building, a multi-story parking deck and a regional swim competition Natatorium is sited to be built; and

Municipal Leadership - drafting local legislation and regularly conferring with elected officials and administrative staff to enhance Columbus' quality of life and create economic incentives for more thoughtful, competitive growth.
